"TV" day is not a day where we spend an entire meeting watching TV (that would be very unproductive), but, it does require a huge TV to be set up in Seigel's room to help hold our monthly poetry conference meetings. During these meetings, as a club, we skype with other literary clubs from other schools across Broward County through the giant TV and camera that is provided to us to be able to have a "virtual Coffee House or Open Mic". We encourage our writers, members, Live Poet Society, and staff to take turns performing their spoken word poetry to the club and the assisting clubs that are attending the conference through the online video chat. After you perform, people from other schools will be able to give you advice, comments, and criticism to help you improve your performance and writing and in return, you will be able to do the same for the students performing from other schools through the chat as well. This in no way counts for anything other than a friendly exchange of poetry, ideas, criticism, inspiration and creativity. This is a wonderful opportunity to shake off that stage fright (or screen fright), get advice and criticism on pieces that are in the works or you feel are finished but would like to polish up, and to share your passion. Anyone and everyone is invited to these events. Our first one will be at our next meeting, Nov. 7th so be sure to stop by room 457 right after school to get inspired and perform or support your fellow poets!
